Flyers hold off a late charge by the Roadrunners and advance to Saturday’s regional final against Jay.

The Flyers become just the fourth WMC team to reach the Western C championship game. The previous three

all lost.

Cutler finished with 17 while Woodhouse had 15. Mt. Abram was led by Norton with 19 while Burbank had 13.

A Kylie Rolbiecki jumper cuts the lead to five. After a missed Flyer free throw, the Roadrunners have a chance to get closer. Rolbiecki misses a jumper and Woodhouse gets fouled. She hits two.

A Norton 3 gets MA within six but Qazi hits a free throw to keep a seven-point lead.

Woodhouse scores seven in the third and Cutler adds four to keep the Flyers in control.

Mt. Abram continues to struggle, shooting 4-for-15 in the third. The Roadrunners cut it to eight on a Norton jumper but the Flyers finished the quarter with a 9-2 run, Woodhouse and Cutler had all those points for the Flyers.

Norton hits for four early points but the Roadrunners can’t slow down the Flyers. Woodhouse has five points, including a three-point play that made it an 11-point game.

Mt. Abram started the game looking good. Burbank hit some early shots. The Roadrunner defense forced seven turnovers and had the Flyers hitting only two of its first eight shots.

All that went for naught in the second. The Flyers blitzed the Roadrunners with 11 straight and Mt. Abram didn’t know what him ’em.

Cutler led the Flyers with seven in the second while Samantha Oakland hit back-to-back 3’s that had Mt. Abram reeling.

The Roadrunner missed its first five shots, one out of its first 16 and finished 2-for-18 in the quarter.

Cutler has 13 for Waynflete while Oakland has six. Forward Morgan Woodhouse has just three. Kenni Norton has eight for Mt. Abram, but six of those have come from the foul line. Burbank has seven.

The Flyers dropped 11 straight on the Roadrunners to start the second. After a Morgan Woodhouse jumper, Sam Oakland hits a pair of 3’s and Mariam Qazi hits a 3 of her own for a stunning 10-point lead. MA has four missed shots and two turnovers in the first 2:30.

Roadrunners get seven from Burbank to build an early lead. Annie Cutler keeps the Flyers close with a pair of 3-pointer. Waynflete had seven turnoves and hit just 2 of its first eight shots.
