More than 30 area Cub Scouts took over the fellowship area of the Park Street Methodist Church in Auburn on Friday night to build their sleds with only cardboard boxes and duct tape. The building of the box sled racers was being photographed by the national publication “Boys Life,” scheduled for publication in about a year. The evening was a beehive of activity as the Cub Scouts, with the help of their parents, scout leaders and older Boy Scouts, constructed the sleds for the race at 10:00 AM Saturday on Hatch Road in Auburn just off Minot Avenue. Shown constructing their sled are Cub Scouts from left, Justin Theriault, 9, Joseph Vallee, 7 and Isaac Dumont, 9. Last year Troop 007, hosted by the Lewiston Vineyard Church, was featured in the Boys Life December issue for their Curling expedition.
