LEWISTON – Andover College’s Lisbon Street campus will host a passport day Thursday to encourage students, staff and the public to apply for passports in preparation for new travel requirements taking place June 1.
The U.S. Postal Service will be available to take applications by appointment between 1 and 2 p.m., and will also be available for walk-in applicants between 2 and 4 p.m. A representative from the Maine chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents will be present to answer travel questions.
New travel requirements will require American citizens traveling by land or sea to present a passport or other qualified travel documents to re-enter the country as of June 1, including travelers returning from Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America.
Applicants will need to submit evidence of U.S. citizenship, along with Form DS-11. Acceptable identification will also need to be presented at the event to apply.
Passport book applications for anyone 16 years or older will cost $100; $85 if under 16. Photos are $15.
