AUBURN – Carmen Dostie of 37 Carlton St. celebrated her 100th birthday at a surprise party given by her children on Feb. 7 at her home.
Dostie’s daughter, Claudette Morency, arrived from Clearwater, Fla., for the special day along with her sons, Robert Jr., Michael, Daniel and Marc, and their families.
Son Richard Dostie of Auburn and his children, Karl and Davida, and their families also attended. Her son, Jerome of Auburn, and his son, Kevin, and his family, of Salt Lake City, Utah, also surprised her. Her son, Francis of Minot, and his wife, Edie, who made the birthday cake, were also on hand to celebrate.
Dostie also received calls from her daughter, Claire of Clearwater, Fla., grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the day.
Her caregiver, Pamela, also attended.
Dostie began voting in 1929 when she was 21 and never missed an election. In the 2008 presidential election, she cast her vote with assistance from her grandson, Karl.
She has five children, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
