DURHAM – The First Congregational Church of Durham will sponsor a dinner Saturday to benefit Stephen Herling.

Herling, 58, a longtime member of the church, was injured in a fall at his Lisbon home last November that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

He and his wife, Joni, are the parents of three grown children.

Dinner will be served at the church from 4:30 to 6 p.m. On the menu will be three kinds of beans, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, brown bread and rolls, pickles and beverages. Dessert will include assorted homemade pies, Jell-O and cakes. The cost will be $9 for adults, $6 for students age 6 to 13, under 5 free.

The church is at the intersection of routes 136 and 9 across from the bandstand, and is handicapped accessible via an elevator. For more information call Betty Litchfield 353-2642.
