LEWISTON – Paul T. Renaud, 67, of Lewiston died suddenly Friday evening at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 23, 1942, the son of Dominic and Jeannette (Cloutier) Renaud.

He was a 1959 graduate of St. Dominic’s High School, then joined the U.S. Air Force. He married the former Josiane Cereia on June 23, 1962. Paul served his country for 20 years and then moved back to Lewiston and joined the Auburn Police Department, serving the city for 20 years, retiring as chief of detectives.

Paul was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and has kept in touch with his former squadron members over the years. He also has kept in touch with his former fellow police officers with the Auburn Police Department.

Hobbies included a passion for candlestick bowling, in which he won several championships with his friends. His love of gardening turned into a deep knowledge of organic vegetables.

He was devoted to his wife, Josiane, and his two sons, Pierre and Michael. Paul was always there and ready to encourage his sons’ endeavors.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Josiane; his sons, Pierre and Michael; a sister, Jacqueline; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Eugene.
