Nineteen-year-old Tyler Emerson, a Maine Maritime Academy student from Millinocket, was shot in the face when Jordan Manzo’s gun went off as Emerson handed it to Manzo. The shooting occurred Jan. 18 at a camp near North Twin Lake outside of Millinocket during an overnight snowmobiling trip with a group of four friends.
Deputy Attorney General Bill Stokes told the Bangor Daily News that although Manzo had been drinking and his handling of the .40-caliber handgun was somewhat questionable, nothing he did warranted a manslaughter charge.
