The USM Art Galleries will present organically constructed sculptures and reliefs by USM art alumnae Sue Bennett of Auburn and Laura Dunn of Biddeford. A sculptor, Bennett works in welded steel, as seen in her piece, above, titled “Three Piece,” done in 2007. Lately, Bennett has also created welded relief drawings, incorporating symbols as tangible expressions of her life. Her work was recently included in juried exhibits in New York, Santa Fe, Lewiston and Rockport. Dunn uses primarily found or reclaimed materials in her artwork. The exhibit, “Organic Constructivism Imagined and Otherwise,” will open Friday, April 3, and run through Saturday, May 9, in the Area Gallery, Woodbury Campus Center, in Portland. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, in the gallery. Gallery hours are 7 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
