LEWISTON – A free Mandala Art Therapy workshop will be offered Thursday, April 16, at the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center. The program is open to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
A mandala is an ancient geometric symbol that holds spiritual significance. Mandala art therapy can be both symbolic and therapeutic.
The workshop will be led by Caroline “Tookie” Bright, a master’s degree in social work graduate student at the University of New England in Biddeford.
Bright is interning at the Androscoggin Hospice House and has been exploring art therapy for the past eight years.
Participants will be encouraged to enjoy the experience of creating a personal mandala in a group setting.
The workshop will be held 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Conference Room I on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building, adjacent to Central Maine Medical Center.
