FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) – Police in Massachusetts say a car ended up submerged in ocean waters in an early morning crash in Falmouth that killed an 18-year-old man.
Officers were called to the scene shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of a young man banging on the door of a home near the accident site. Police learned the teen was in the car when it crashed and was trying to get help for another person.
Rescuers say they pulled Joshua Lopes of Falmouth from the car and tried to resusciate him, but he was later pronounced dead at Falmouth Hospital.
Police identified the other person as 17-year-old Ryan Fahey of Falmouth.
Authorities say the water temperature at the time was about 43 degrees.
The cause of the one-car accident is under investigation.
