‘Caring for Caregivers’ workshop at hospital
RUMFORD – A “Caring for the Caregivers” workshop will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Rumford Hospital’s former ICU area on the first floor.
There are many organizations and individuals who care about the people who give care. Many of them will join Wednesday to provide free information and give caregivers support.
SeniorsPlus will display its caregiver support services and the Meals on Wheels programs, as well as help with understanding Medicare insurance, plans A through D.
Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice will be on hand with its home health and hospice services, Lifeline program and falls prevention.
Community Concepts will help caregivers solve transportation needs.
Rumford Hospital will provide a nutritionist, a social worker to talk about the new Comfort Care hospice program, Advanced Directives guidance and blood pressure checks.
There will be opportunities to sit in on presentations on “Caring for Someone with Dementia,” “Taking Care of Yourself as Caregiver” and “Sit and Fit,” all starting at 4 p.m. At 5 p.m. the presentations will be “The Facts You Need to Know about Nursing Home Care” with staff from Rumford Community Home and “How to be a Successful Caregiver Advocate” with Laurie Winsor of Androscoggin Home Care.
All of the presenters will take questions in the group sessions and will offer private consultations following and/or before their presentations. Register by calling 369-1139 or by signing up at the door on May 20.
