NORWAY – A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening after being charged with obstructing traffic and spitting on an officer.

Scott Brennan, of Morse Hill Road in West Paris, remained at the Oxford County Jail on Tuesday afternoon. He was charged with assault on an officer, obstructing a public way, disorderly conduct, and refusing to submit to arrest.

According to a report by officer Theron Bickford of the Norway Police Department, Brennan was walking down the middle of Route 118, shouting at passing vehicles and punching them when they passed.

Brennan was arrested by Bickford and Trooper Tom Welch of the Maine State Police. Bickford stated that Brennan resisted arrest and began hitting his head on the cage and interior of the cruiser after being arrested.

Bickford said Brennan began spitting on the back of his head, and that Brennan spit in his eye at one point when he turned around.

Brennan remained at the Oxford County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.
