AUBURN – Young Guns Service Center overcame some defensive lapses in the field with persistent offense in a 13-9 victory over L/A Fire in the West Division of the Auburn Players softball league. Matty Hyndman led the way for Young Guns, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a key, two-out, bases-loaded hit. Wayne Jasper and Jay Jasper also contributed two hits apiece. Young Guns rallied for six runs in the fifth inning. Jason Boenig (2-for-4) started the rally with one out. Ssolid pitching from Jeff Dion and a game-ending defensive gem by Raymond Bolduc (also 2-4 with two 2 RBIs) propelled the Guns (2-0).

NAPA Auto Parts improved to 2-0 in Players West with a thrilling 12-11 win over Main-Land Development. Each NAPA player notched at least one hit. Clay Phillips and Kasey Clark led the parade with three hits apiece. Anthony Clark, Josh Cobb, Demetrius Starks, Nick Tatu, Zach Gross and Terry Goguen each checked in with two hits. NAPA scored five runs in the sixth inning in overcoming a three-run deficit.

Auburn Players East

Meineke Car Care overcame Gritty’s, 8-7, in extra innings. Gritty’s scored four runs in the seventh to tie the game. Meineke rallied with two outs in the eighth. Chris Willer cracked a single and Gregg Rose was walked intentionally. That set up Brad O’Connor’s game-winning single. Rose homered twice. John Langeller was the winning pitcher. Matt Churchill homered for Gritty’s. Rob Arp was a repeat hitter.
