Broadway stars to attend Eveningstar showing
BRUNSWICK — Broadway stars Jessica Lee Goldyn and Tony Yazbeck will be at the Eveningstar Cinema Friday, June 19, to host a question-and-answer period after the 7 p.m. showing of “Every Little Step.”
The two are featured in James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo’s behind-the-scenes look at the casting process of the Broadway revival of “A Chorus Line.”
“Every Little Step” opens June 19, with daily showings at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 p.m., with the exception of June 19 when there will be no 9 p.m. showing to accommodate a lengthy question-and-answer period, if necessary.
The film is rated PG-13 and runs 96 minutes.
Goldyn and Yazbeck, who met while doing the Broadway revival of “A Chorus Line,” are in Brunswick for Maine State Music Theatre’s production of “Crazy for You,” which runs June 24 to July 11 at Pickard Theatre on the Bowdoin College campus.
“Every Little Step” offers a quick introduction to the auditioning process and then the 3,000 contestants are quickly whittled down to a few dozen. Stern and Del Deo allow these remaining candidates plenty of screen time to strut their stuff. By showing the same people performing the same material over several months, the filmmakers enable audience members to gauge the performers’ talents and familiarize themselves with each contestant — until it becomes difficult not to take a rooting interest in the competition.
Tickets for “Every Little Step” are $7.75 and are available at Eveningstar’s box office after 1 p.m. daily or online at www.eveningstarcinema.com. Eveningstar Cinema is at 149 Maine St.
