One World Music Ensemble, made up of Peter Jones, above, and other musicians from the Bates Dance Festival, will perform Thursday, July 30, as part of the 2009 Bates College Midsummer Lakeside Concert Series. The program promises to be a tapestry of rhythms and melodies from all corners of the globe. One World Music Ensemble plays an array of world instruments, including accordion, kalimba, bouzouki, marimbas and percussion. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the Florence Keigwin Amphitheater at the college’s Lake Andrews. Lakeside concerts are open to the public at no cost. Picnics are encouraged, as is bringing lawn chairs or blankets. Rain site is the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St., adjacent to the amphitheater. For more information, call 786-6400.
