Sherrie Blumenthal of Lewiston releases a monarch butterfly outside the Lewiston city building on Friday. The butterfly, which was cared for by the staff of the Lewiston Public Library, hatched on Friday morning. Blumenthal and Denise Dill of Lewiston made a trip to Michoacan, Mexico, the final destination of the monarchs after their 2000-mile journey. They will talk about their trip after a special showing of the film “The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies,” a 2009 PBS Nova documentary on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library. Film showing is free of charge.
