LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library and the Downtown Education Collaborative are partnering to offer two free computer workshops this month.
“Microsoft Excel Basics” will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and “Microsoft Word Basics” will be presented on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Microsoft Excel is a computer spreadsheet program which simplifies tasks such as accounting, designing a schedule, creating a budget, or making graphs and other visual aids. The Excel workshop will introduce the software program and lead participants through the creation of a spreadsheet. Other topics covered will include the creation of an embedded chart and the use of the “auto calculate” function.
The Microsoft Word workshop will provide an overview of the program by leading participants through the creation of a resume and cover letter. The presentation will also provide insights into document editing and the designing of flyers.
Both workshops will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Lewiston
Public Library computer lab. While there is no cost for the workshops,
preregistration is required and may be done by calling the library at
513-3135. Each will be limited to 15 participants so as to provide
everyone with an individual computer work station.
