AUBURN — WINTERIZING L/A, a collaboration of area municipalities, nonprofits and local businesses, is looking for community volunteers to help winterize 100 homes in Lewiston and Auburn. Volunteers will help install winterizing materials in the homes of low-income homeowners living in downtown Lewiston-Auburn.
The event will take place Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 29 through Nov. 1. Volunteers can choose to work just one day or all four days. No experience is required as each winterizing team will have an experienced team leader.
The teams will install weather stripping around doors and windows, seal windows with a special film that blocks drafts, caulk exterior doors and windows, foam fill cracks or gaps and replace light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
Individuals or organizations interested in joining the volunteer effort may contact Mark McComas, City of Lewiston, at 513-3126, TTY/TDD 513-3007; Hal Barter, City of Auburn, at 333-6601, ext. 1332; or Sandy Albert, Community Concepts, at 739-6560 or by e-mail at salbert@community-concepts.org.
