Last year’s record: 15-6, lost in Western C semifinal
Returning letter winners: Seniors -Michelle Lough (5-6 forward), Katie Michelson (5-7 forward), Alex Veilleux (5-4 guard), Kelsey Ouellette (5-9 guard); Juniors – Sarah Warner (5-4 guard), Kelsey Nason (5-10 forward), Nikki Scott (5-4 guard).
Key losses: Anna Smithgall (forward), Lindsey Gordon (forward).
Outlook: The Ramblers only lost two seniors but both were veteran post players. Ouellette (10.5 ppg) was an MVC All-Star. Michelson and Scott are both returning starters. Winthrop will be a small team, both size-wise and numbers-wise. Still, the Ramblers expect to play hard and will be a team on the rise as players adjust to new roles. Winthrop should be in the hunt for a playoff spot and will be a tough foe in the conference.
Coach’s comment: “We need to do the skill parts of the game better because our margin for error is small. We need to really improve our rebounding because of our lack of size. We have experience, and we will need to work well together to perform at an acceptable level.” – Coach Ray Convery
