BETHEL — The ski documentary “The Edge of Never” will debut Sunday evening as part of an East Coast tour.
Bethel was selected to show the film because of its proximity to Sunday River and other ski resorts, said Sara Lococo, events manager for the film tour. Tickets for the 7 p.m show at the Bethel Inn are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger.
“People love the film,” Lococo said. “It’s a lot different from your typical ski film. It’s a really good story.” It’s based on the book “The Edge of Never” by William Kerig, who also wrote and directed the film.
According to information from the film’s Web site, the story is based on the 1966 death of extreme ski legend Trevor Peterson who was killed in Chamonix, France, and the decision nine years later to put his 15-year-old son on the same route that killed his father.
“In this thrilling documentary, three generations of skiers mentor Kye as he attempts to finish his father’s final run,” according to the film’s Web site.
Well-known adventure skier and award-winning sports film producer Dan Egan of Egan Entertainment in Ashland, N.H., will introduce the film at the Bethel Inn, Lococo said.
Egan, who has been named by Powder Magazine one of the “top skiers of all time,” has had his daredevil skiing skills showcased in 12 films and has been nominated for three Emmy Awards for his film work.
