Roger Charest, 15, of Auburn shovels the sidewalk and the parking spot for the van at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine Auburn-Lewiston Clubhouse on Tuesday. For Charest, a freshman at Edward Little High School, the Tuesday snowfall was just another opportunity to do what he loves best and that is serve. Charest has been a fixture at the club in Auburn for five years doing whatever is needed. He puts in about 24 hours a week of volunteer service. “Helping out is just part of me. I don’t do it for the recognition, and perhaps it will help me when it comes time to fill out a job application,” he said.
