Auburn firefighter Doug Wiles checks the damage to a utility pole behind Beal’s Cleaners and Laundromat on Hampshire Street in Auburn. A truck allegedly ran into the wooden pole behind Beal’s, splitting it near the base. Police closed the adjacent train tracks and the nearby road for about an hour around noon Tuesday while Central Maine Power Co. worked to repair the pole. Police are looking for an 18-wheeler with a black cab and a white trailer suspected of being involved in the accident, Lt. Paul Labarre said.
