LEWISTON — Fire crews were responding to a fire on Boxer Island in the Androscoggin River.
The fire was reported as being set by two boys and spread to a 50-foot-by-50-foot area on the north end of the island, which is the island below the Veterans Memorial Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn. Fire crews were reporting the fire under control as of 4:35 p.m.
Firefighters were reporting the fire appeared to be a camp fire that got out of control.
