FREEPORT, Maine (AP) — A former Maine State Police trooper has been charged with theft after allegedly taking gas money from L.L. Bean, where he formerly worked.

Police in Freeport say Marcel Drouin worked in security for L.L. Bean but was fired for disciplinary reasons last month.

The Portland Press Herald reports that when he turned in his company gas card after being let go, the company found it had been used three times in February to put gas in personal vehicles. The total amount was $100.

Drouin, who worked for the State Police for 24 years before retiring as a sergeant in 1992, was cited into West Bath District Court for a May 19 appearance.
