MEXICO — The following incidents were handled by the Mexico Police Department.
Arrests
Joshua L. Crosby, 27, Auburn Road, Peru, on warrants charging failure to pay fines, 8:31 a.m., June 15, on Main Street. He was released from the Mexico Police Department after paying $900 in fines.
Edward Varnum, 39, Hartford Street, Rumford, operating after suspension, 8:10 p.m., June 5, on the Roxbury Road. He was released from the Mexico Police Department on $200 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Aug. 3. He was also received a summons charging operating a motor vehicle while a passenger consumed alcohol.
Thefts
A Birch Street, Biddeford, resident reported at 8:21 p.m., May 31, that someone had taken about $600 in jewelry and $40 cash from her purse while she was visiting a Dix Avenue resident.
A Leavitt Street resident reported at 11 a.m., June 12, that someone had taken a weed whacker valued at $600 from where it was stored at the rear of an outbuilding.
Thefts and Burglaries
A Sun Valley Circle resident reported at 11:53 a.m., June 8, that someone had entered her residence sometime between June 1 and June 8 and took jewelry and a television with a total value of more than $1,000.
An Osgood Avenue resident reported at 11:29 a.m., June 5, that someone had entered her residence the night before and took $800 cash.
A Franklin Street, Rumford, resident reported at 9:44 p.m., June 4, that someone had taken a digital camera valued at $150 from a Carlton Avenue, Mexico, residence.
A Roxbury Road resident reported at 8:50 a.m., June 4, that someone had entered his apartment sometime the night before and took $600 cash.
A Dix Avenue resident reported at 4:11 p.m., June 2, that someone had entered her residence sometime the day before and took two decorative ornaments valued at $24.
Recovered mountain bike
Police recovered a missing mountain bike on Whitman Street at 12:44 p.m., June 6. The owner may claim the bike by calling the police department at 364-5686.
Accident
A vehicle driven by Carey-Paul Harnden, 33, Falmouth Street, Rumford, hit a deer as he was driving his four-door Hyundai at 1:55 a.m., June 7. The vehicle sustained $2,500 damage. The deer was killed.
