Crystal Ward, left, was honored at the Maine Education Association awards banquet at the Holiday Inn by the Bay on May 15. Ward received the the Anne Sheehan Political Action Award for supporting education issues at the national, state and local levels of government. In Washington D.C., she has become known as a diligent lobbyist for elimination of the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision and in Augusta she is recognized as a staunch supporter of public education and a voice of reason. Ward taught government at Lewiston High School for 33 years and encouraged her students and colleagues to be informed on political issues and to voice their concerns with legislators. She is pictured with Chris Galgay, MEA president.
