LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Falls Christian Academy recently was awarded second place overall at the 2010 Accelerated Christian Education Northeast Regional Student Convention held in Schroon Lake, N.Y. In addition, the school earned first place honors in the exhibits and platform divisions and second place in the music division.
More than 200 students from New York and New England competed in the areas of academics, music, platform, exhibits and athletics. Students were awarded individual medals for the first six places.
First-place medals: essay writing and color photo plants, Jennifer Newendyke; sketching, Emma Gumprecht; pen and ink and colored pencils, Jessica Newendyke; black and white scenic, Susanna Sherburne; black and white plants/animals, color animals, running long jump and poetry recitation, Robert Riggs; black and white character trait and expressive reading, Alexis Ancona; girls’ 1,600-meter run, Briana Moon; brass solo, Samuel Sherburne; dramatic dialogue, Briana Moon and Richard Riggs.
Second-place medals: spelling, Jennifer Newendyke; short story writing, Susanna Sherburne; colored pencils, Emily Stewart; color photo plants, Robert Riggs; dramatic dialogue, Susanna Sherburne and Emily Stewart; radio program, Alexis Ancona, Samuel Sherburne, Susanna Sherburne, Emily Stewart and Jennifer Newendyke; CAP Award, Susanna Sherburne.
