LEWISTON — The Lewiston Police Department, along with the Police Athletic League and Recreation Department, will host the city’s annual National Night Out.
The free family event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marcotte Park, Lewiston.
The event features numerous activities and entertainment including: Mr. Drew’s Animals, music by Nick Knowlton, limbo dancing, a karate demonstration by Pelletier Academy, the Bounce, distribution of free books, a water cane, arts and crafts, face painting, and beads and bracelet making, a City Hall statement said.
The Lewiston Police Department and Fire Department will also have representatives present to visit with children and their families.
“National Night Out is a great example of residents, municipal employees, volunteers, public safety officials, and local entities coming together for a time of fun and enjoyment,”Deputy Police Chief Jim Minkowsky said in a statement. “It’s an evening of community spirit, community pride and community collaboration.”
Food for the event will be provided by the local Wal-Mart Distribution Center with cooking provided by their managers and associates.
“National Night Out makes you feel good about your community and certainly shows that spending one’s time in a positive manner is a win-win for the community as a whole,” said Maggie Chisholm, the city’s recreation director.
