LISBON — A Bowdoinham man was charged with robbing the Rite Aid pharmacy minutes after it occurred Sunday afternoon.
Detective Bernard McAllister said reserve police officer Gabrielle Mathieu was speaking with Wade Fraser, 20, when she received a message about the robbery and realized he matched the description of the suspect.
She got out of her cruiser and Fraser took off down Capital Avenue and was apprehended after a brief foot chase at 3:30 p.m. Mathieu and School Resource Officer Darin Estes who happened to be near by placed him under arrest.
Detective McAllister said Fraser entered the drug store shortly before 3:30 p.m, and handed the druggist a note demanding drugs. He was given two bottles of Oxycodone pills. No weapons were displayed and the pills were recovered, the detective said.
Following his arrest, Fraser was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, treated was released. A bail commissioner met Fraser at the hospital, where $5,000 single surety bail was posted and Fraser ordered to appear in court Sept. 30.
McAllister said the robbery investigation is continuing.
