CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Robin Turner Ryan, formerly of the Carrabassett Valley Police Department, is seeking to raise funds to volunteer her time and services for a six week program in New Delhi, India.

Her volunteer placement is dedicated to the education and empowerment of socially disadvantaged people, concentrating on children and women. This involves rendering rehabilitative services through integrated education, medical care, vocational training and self-employment. The program’s special mission is to create greater opportunities for persons who are disadvantaged to lead lives of equality and dignity.

Ryan is volunteering with Cross-Cultural Solutions, a nonprofit organization that operates volunteer programs from one to12 weeks in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America. She has previously volunteered through CCS in Africa and Latin America.

Ryan is looking to raise $1,405 over the next month for her volunteer program. The amount goes toward the coordination of her volunteer placement, education on the culture and issues facing the community, lodging at a CCS home base, all meals and bottled water, in-country transportation, experienced and professional support staff, local and incoming international phone calls, a 24-hour emergency hot line and comprehensive travel medical insurance.

For more information on how to help sponsor Ryan’s volunteer abroad experience, e-mail her at rltmail13@yahoo.com or find her through her CCS account at my.crossculturalsolutions.org to make a secure payment.
