MECHANIC FALLS — A surprise party was held July 24 for Frank and Velora Piper of Mechanic Falls, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was planned by their daughter and her husband, Darlene G. Boyd and Jeffrey Boyd and was held at the American Legion Hall.

The couple received a corsage and boutonniere made and presented by Dixie Lee Piper, sister-in-law. Pictures of the couple throughout the years were displayed on each table. Two collages of grandchildren and family pictures, made by Darlene Boyd, were also displayed. Toastmaster was Carroll Piper, brother, who was best man.
