DEAR SUN SPOTS: To celebrate November as National Lifewriting Month, the Dempsey Center, in collaboration with Denis Ledoux and the Soleil Lifestory Network, is offering two free memoir-writing workshops on “Turning Memories Into Memoirs,” focusing on cancer survivors and those whose lives have been touched by cancer.

They will be held at the Dempsey Center on Nov. 15 and 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. and are open to the public. Everyone will leave with many good ideas for writing memoirs.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Leeds Community Church will host a turkey supper on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the church, 123 Churchill Road, 524-5572. Menu will include roast turkey and all the fixing, also homemade pies.

Supper will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with doors to the holiday fair opening at 4 p.m. Many hand-embroidered quits, along with ragdolls will be for sale. The women will also have available American-made Rada cutlery and other holiday items. “Jane’s” jam and relish table is always popular. There will be a silent auction during the sale and supper.

The supper is $7 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 12, with those under 5 free. Proceeds will provide funds for many of the women’s mission projects. — No Name, No Town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lisbon Falls United Methodist Church on 14 School St. will be holding its annual Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair on Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be baked goods, crafts, trash and treasures, nearly new, wreaths and other arrangements, fudge and candy table, and theme baskets.

We will also serve our beef stew luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It includes beef stew, bread, beverage and dessert. The cost for the lunch is $5 for adults and $2 for children. DEAR SUN SPOTS: Having turned for years to your helpful column, I now wonder if you would notify your readers of a benefit for a scholarship fund. It will feature the Coos Canyon Band in the auditorium of the Rumford Town Hall. Chairs will be arranged for the audience to dance to the music of the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and up to the current decade.

There will be a Chinese auction to a Bar Harbor house during an October week 2011, a pink tourmaline stone, a child’s quilt, a few antiques and several gift certificates. Also food and drink will be available.

Doors to the Town Hall will be open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 7 p.m. An elevator is accessible through the police station on River Street. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students 12 years old and under.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Wales Presbyterian Women will sponsor the annual holiday fair at the Wales Youth Center on Pond Road (Route 132) on Saturday Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A hunters’ luncheon consisting of chowder and hot dogs will be served. There will be baked goods, candies, fancy work, decorations, etc., available to purchase.
