LEWISTON — Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care’s River Street pre-kindergarten and child care program was the recent recipient of a $4,320 grant to improve the playground at the facility.
Head Start Body Start Grants are offered through the National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play to promote physical activity, outdoor play and healthy lifestyles for young children and their families.
Androscoggin Head Start’s River Street Center has two full-day, full-year pre-kindergarten and child care classrooms, which serve 36 children ages 3 to 5. The grant made it possible to re-sod an area of the playground so the children have a surface that will be safe during their outdoor play.
