LEWISTON — Sassafrass Stomp will bring its high-energy folk music to She Doesn’t Like Guthries on Friday, March 11.
Fiddler Johanna Davis and guitarist Adam Nordell perform traditional fiddle-based folk, with tight vocal harmonies, driving foot percussion and the sounds of a five-string banjo.
Davis and Nordell began making music together at the Montana Artist Refuge in January 2008. They toured nationally as two-thirds of a string band and developed a strong following in the Montana contra dance community before their debut as Sassafras Stomp at Seattle Washington’s Northwest Folklife Festival.
The two recently relocated to midcoast Maine, where they live in a yurt and run a small farm.
The show will begin at 9 p.m. at the restaurant/cafe at 115 Middle St. No cover charge.
On Thursday, March 17, Guthries will host its live jazz show with local musicians Tom Skipper, Tim Clough and John Smedley of Three Point Trio. The show will start at 6 p.m. No cover. For more information, call 376-3344.
