RUMFORD — J. Anita Reynolds, 88, of Somerset Street, Rumford, died Tuesday, May 10, at Rumford Community Home.

She was born in Dixfield on Dec. 15, 1922, the daughter of Oliver D. and Lelia (Holt) Welch. Anita was educated in Mechanic Falls and Dixfield schools and was a graduate of Dixfield High School. She was also a graduate of Bliss College in Auburn.

She was employed for over 35 years as a secretary at Stowell Macgregor in Dixfield and Stowell Wood Products in Bryant Pond. For many years, Anita worked the polls in Dixfield.

Anita loved listening to music, dancing, watching the Boston Red Sox and the Lawrence Welk Show.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Farrell and husband, Dennis of Rumford; two grandchildren, Kelly Farrell and companion, Howard Jones of Dixfield, and James Farrell and wife, Jennifer of Holliston, Mass.; and a great-granddaughter, Catherine Farrell.

She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Eric Farrell; six sisters, Isabelle Knox, Loraine Smith, Ethel Child, Mae Magoon, Barbara Gagnon and Kate Horne; and three brothers, Percy, Kenneth and John Welch.
