BATH, Maine (AP) — The Navy is getting a new supervisor of shipbuilding in Bath, Maine.

Capt. Robert A. Crowe will relieve Capt. Dean M. Krestos during a change-of-command ceremony Thursday at the Maine Maritime Museum, down the street from shipbuilder Bath Iron Works. Since 2006, Krestos has overseen the delivery of 19 vessels built at shipyards in Maine, California and Alabama to the Navy.

The supervisor of shipbuilding administers shipbuilding contracts, as well as providing on-site technical expertise and quality assurance for the Navy.

With the closing of Brunswick Naval Air Station, the Bath headquarters represents the Navy’s largest presence north of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The office has more than 200 civilian workers and Navy personnel.
