KINGFIELD — The Stadler Gallery will showcase works by Richard Allen of Tilton, N.H., and Saskia Haugen-Reinholt of Phillips.

Allen’s show, “Meditations and Mystery,” is based on the question: What lies at the core of an artist’s creative endeavor? With what he describes as a mysterious and powerful urge driving him, Allen’s personal journey has lead him from representational landscape painting to essentially abstract work.

After graduating with a degree in history from the University of Vermont, Allen studied at the Art Student’s League in New York, at the Massachusetts College of Art at the Boston Museum School and at the Maine College of Art. He taught art in secondary school until his retirement several years ago.

Haugen-Reinholt finds inspiration in the scenic beauty in the foothills of the western mountains of Maine, where she who has spent much of her life. It is, in fact, a recurring theme in her artwork and her pallet reflects the colors found in nature’s own designs.

Haugen-Reinholt received a degree in studio arts from the University of Maine at Farmington, focusing on painting and sculpture. She continued her studies in the traditional arts of fresco, murals, decoration and stained glass at Studio Giambo in Florence, Italy. She and her husband, Ian, own the Reinholt Gallery.

The two exhibits at Stadler Gallery,225 Main St., will be on view from July 16 to Aug. 5 daily from noon to 4 p.m., or by appointment. A reception for the artists will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.
