LEWISTON — Now that Community Concepts has settled into their new building at 240 Bates St., the nonprofit organization wants to assist its new neighborhood to prosper with safe, affordable housing and vibrant businesses and public spaces.
In order to measure its success in meeting this goal, Community Concepts will be recording the current visual status of the neighborhood surrounding its downtown location. In three years, Community Concepts will conduct a second visual assessment to see how the neighborhood and community has changed.
Over the next few week, starting Tuesday, Aug. 30, Community Concepts staff and volunteers will be recording visual information on forms in order to gather the baseline information. A copy of the tool being used is available at the Community Concepts office and on their website. The tool was created by NeighborWorks, a national nonprofit organization that helps organizations like Community Concepts improve neighborhoods, community and business all over the United States.
Community Concepts is a private, nonprofit organization with 45 years experience helping children, families, elders and communities have hope for the future.
