FARMINGTON — Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association will hold its final planning meeting Thursday, Nov. 17, prior to the association’s 40th annual Christmas fair.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the University of Maine at Farmington Student Center North Dining Hall. New members are welcome. A time for registering for the fair begins at 6:30.

Featuring originally-created items, the fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the student center. For more information, call 778-6967 or 778-2791.

Breakfast change

RANGELEY — The ladies/community breakfast has been rescheduled and moved. It will take place from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Moosely Bagels. Anyone with special dietary needs should call in advance so they can try to accommodate your needs.

Isabella group met

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 from St. Rose of Lima held their November business meeting on Nov. 9. Regent Denise Rodzen called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Members were led in the restoration of the rosary by Chancellor Laurieanne Castonguay. The chancellor then said the opening prayer. Recording secretary Olive Couture then read the minutes of the October business meeting. There were no new applications for membership or transfers. Rodzen read a letter she received from the International Regent.

Turkey beano

WAYNE — Wayne turkey beano will take place Friday, Nov. 18, at Ladd Recreation Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be sold. This is a primary fundraiser for the Wayne School and Home Association. Proceeds benefit enrichment programs throughout the school year.

Historical society

STRATTON — The Dead River Area Historical Society’s annual meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Community Building on Main Street. A potluck dinner and a pig-in-a-poke auction will follow. Attendees should bring something in a brown paper bag for the auction.

The slate of officers for the year 2012 to be voted on will be as follows: president/treasurer, Mary Henderson; vice president, Mary Hopson; secretary, Hazel Hogan; and directors, Duluth Wing, June Parsons and Peter Pease.

Members are asked to bring a guest. Any member who wants to be an officer should announce that at the meeting or prior to have their name added to the ballot.

Thanksgiving meal

RANGELEY — The annual senior citizen Thanksgiving dinner will take place at noon Sunday, Nov. 20, at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St. Menu will include turkey with all the trimmings, fresh apple and pumpkin pies. There will be door prizes. Take-outs welcome.

Climate change

FARMINGTON — A special noon program on “Climate change and its consequences for Maine landscapes — past and future,” will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30, at UMF Thomas Auditorium, Preble Hall.

George Jacobson, professor emeritus of biology, ecology and climate change at UMO, and Maine state climatologist, will give the talk, sponsored by Western Maine Audubon, the UMF Natural Sciences Department and the UMF Sustainable Campus Coalition.

Craft fair
