FARMINGTON — A workshop to help answer tourists’ questions on what Franklin County has to offer for fun activities will be presented at three locations this month.

What’s There To Do Around Here, Anyway? is to help those who meet and greet people.

The workshop will be presented by Susan Atwood of Wilson Lake Inn in Wilton, Leigh Breidenbach, director of Community Health and Recreation at the University of Maine at Farmington, Tyne Hagerstrom, sales manager for Comfort Inn in Farmington and Judy Morton, director of the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

It will be held on three days in three locations, all from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On Dec. 13, it will be at the Caribou Room of the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel in Carrabassett Valley; on Dec. 14, at Moose Alley in Rangeley; and on Dec. 15, at Comfort Inn & Suites in Wilton.

The workshop is a way to help retail clerks, museum volunteers, restaurant hostesses or  lodging front desk people make a better connection with customers, Shelby Childs, executive assistant at the Greater Franklin Development Corp., said.

Participants will learn more about what’s available around the county, including visiting waterfalls, galleries and museums.

“We’re a four-season destination with things to do in Franklin County all year round,” she said. A good experience encourages people to come back, she said.

Sponsored by the Franklin County Tourism Network with help through grant funding from the USDA Rural Development, the workshop is one of a series offered to help prepare those in customer service.

Previously, a Give Them The Pickle workshop was held and recently a social media boot camp provided by Nancy Marshall Communications helped people learn how to better use Facebook as a tool to improve their businesses, she said.

Another social media workshop is planned for the spring.

The cost of the workshop is $20 and includes all materials. Preregistrations help with planning. For more information or to register, contact Childs at 778-5887 or email schilds@greaterfranklin.com
