LEWISTON — A special 10-week seminar and workshop on strategic and tactical planning designed for senior executives, department heads and managers of existing businesses will be offered by L-A SCORE starting in January.

The course, co-sponsored by USM/L-A College and the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, is for those in business who are refining their current focus, changing focus or adding a new focus (i.e. new product and/or service) to their existing business, or developing a new business and want to develop a solid foundation prior to launch, according to SCORE.

The seminar will take place every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. from Jan. 11 to March 14 at USM/L-A College.

SCORE representatives say the course is designed to meet today’s fast-paced, ever-changing and complex business environment by providing participants with a “third dimension of consideration, expanding their thinking and plan possibilities, with the result being a new matrix that can be complete and actionable with a much greater expectation of success.”

The facilitator will be Frank DeMascola, a member of the Lewiston-Auburn SCORE chapter who currently consults in strategic and tactical planning, design and implementation. His previous affiliations include Fortune Consulting International (as vice president and principal), Dendrite International (as sales director) and Medix Inc. (a subsidiary of N.J. Blue Cross-Blue Shield, as director of corporate planning). He holds masters degrees from Villanova University and undergraduate degrees from Temple University, specializing in education and social administration.

Space is limited. Registration will close Jan. 3. To register, visit www.androscoggincounty.com. For questions, contact the Chamber at 783-2249. The fee for the 10-week course is $300 for the first company representative, $200 for the next and $100 for each additional person from the same company.

SCORE is a nonprofit national organization of more than 10,500 volunteer business executives and mentors who provide confidential counseling and training workshops.
