Coach: Tony Stevens (fifth year)
Last year’s record: 20th in KVAC
Returning letter winners: Senior — Justin Cummings (220) ; Juniors —Jake Hall (126), Dustin Edwards (285); Sophomores — Ena Farrar (138), John Hankey (120); Edward Little wrestlers: Seniors — Shawn Bang (160), Connor Murphy (120); Sophomore — Sheldon Bang (126).
Key losses: Tabitha Hawkins (140).
Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Malik Geiger (152), Creighton Mederios (195), Cordell Brooks (106), Branden Gullicksen (138); Poland wrestlers: Juniors — Brandon Drottar (170), Tyler Sturtevant (152); Sophomore — Everett Bertrand (145).
Outlook: The Vikings have only one state qualifier returning (Hankey, an alternate), but a strong freshman class has Stevens hoping he has the framework to eventually return Oxford Hills to prominence in the KVAC and Class A. Numbers are up this year, and having the Edward Little wrestlers, all of whom could qualify for states this year, and the Poland wrestlers will only help the youngsters improve.
Coach’s comment: “My goal for this year is top 10 in the KVAC and qualify some kids for states.”
