Ash Wednesday

MEXICO — An ecumenical Ash Wednesday service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”). The service will be conducted by the pastor of the church, Izzie Radford-Nash, and the pastor of the Rumford United Methodist Church, Carol Stevens. It will include readings and reflections for the beginning of Lent, as well as the imposition of ashes. All are welcome to attend.

Two other ecumenical services will held during the last week of Lent, a Maundy Thursday service on April 5 at the United Methodist Church in Rumford and a Good Friday service on April 6 at the Mexico Congregational UCC.

Campbell benefit

CANTON — A benefit potluck supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Canton Municipal Building. Cost is $5 per person.

The supper is a benefit for the Campbell family who lost their son and their home in a fire recently. Food items and monetary donation are welcome.

Relay benefit

RUMFORD — Team Friends and Family Forever will hold a fundraiser Saturday, March 3, to benefit River Valley Relay for Life.

The event, to include a Chinese auction and dance, will be held at the Rumford Eagles and will start at 7 p.m. A dance at 8 p.m. will feature music by Stereo Type. Those who would like to take part in the auction but not the dance are welcome. Cost is $6 a person or $10 a couple. Class of 1959

RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet on Tuesday, March 6, at Gatch’s Restaurant at 11:30 a.m.

Snowshoe dance

RUMFORD — A dance party will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Rumford Snowshoe Club. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for guests.

Dance to music by Shake, Rattle ‘n’ Roll featuring Frank Coffin and Malinda Liberty.
