LISBON — Two Lewiston residents are facing burglary and theft charges after police say they broke into a multifamily home at 338 Lisbon Road on Thursday afternoon and stole $,1000 cash.

Joseph Maye, 45, and Ann Terrio, 43, both of 35 Dill St., were taken into custody within 10 minutes of a report of the break-in, Lisbon Detective Bernie McAllister said Friday. He credited information from witnesses and Lewiston police with the quick apprehension.

The two were arrested on Lisbon Street in Lewiston by Lisbon officer Renee Bernard, with assistance from Lewiston officer Tyler Martin, the detective said. The money was found in their car, he said.

Maye was charged with burglary, theft and violation of condition of release and booked at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. He remained there Friday night on $2,060 bail and a probation violation, a spokesman said. He was arraigned in 8th District Court in Lewiston earlier Friday, the jailer said. He is scheduled to appear in Androscoggin County Superior Court on June 28, the officer said.

Terrio was charged with burglary and theft, booked at the Lisbon police station and later released on bail, McAllister said.

He declined to release further information because the investigation is continuing.
