GARLAND — A local man who apparently fell sometime during the night was found deceased by his wife Sunday morning when she got up to feed the horses, Deputy James Kennedy of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said.

Maxwell Dorre, 54, was found at around 6:45 a.m. in a breezeway between the house and the barn, the deputy said Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing and “It’s very preliminary, but there is nothing that looks suspicious,” Kennedy said. “It looks like he had gone to get some wood and had fallen.”

The couple had been drinking the night before and Dorre’s wife went to bed before him, the deputy said.

While police were investigating the death, several family members arrived to comfort Dorre’s widow, Kennedy said.

“It’s unfortunate,” the deputy said.
