Resource Fair is today

LEWISTON — The Wellness and Recovery Center will hold its third annual Resource Fair at 100 Pine Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 16.

The nonprofit organization promotes the health and wellness of the citizens of Androscoggin County who experience a mental illness by providing recovery oriented programs and integrated services such as offering meals, activities, education and recovery.

The group is offering this resource to the community so people can learn about the services that are available to educate all.

Cooking class for adults

LEWISTON — The Adult Cooking Club will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St.

Yard sale preview

BRUNSWICK — Reservations may be made until Thursday, May 17, for the Giant Yard Sale preview party on Friday, May 18, sponsored by the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary. The party kicks off the three-day sale, held at the former Bookland, Cook’s Corner Mall. Proceeds benefit health career scholarships and Mid Coast Hospital.

The party is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and will feature the opportunity to buy early, as well as enjoy beverages, hors d’oeuvres and music by Cul de Sax, based on the “Here We Go Again” theme. Advance reservations at $15 each may be purchased until 5 p.m. May 17.

Tickets at $20 each at the door will not be sold until 6 p.m. Friday, May 18, and these ticket holders will enter after the advance ticket holders.

Reservations may be made Tuesday-Thursday 8:30 to 5 p.m. at the Mid Coast Hospital Gift Shop.

Free public hours for the yard sale are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and 9 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 20.

Outdoor markets begin

LEWISTON — The Spring into Summer Market will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St.

This will be the first outdoor market of the season. There will be barbecue, live music and fun.

During the market, there will be an ongoing workshop, “Gardening without chemicals.” Get tips on how to have a healthy garden and deal with pests without chemicals. Workshop is free, but donations welcomed.

May Pole supper

MONMOUTH — E. Monmouth Church Ladies Auxiliary will hold the May Pole Supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at East Monmouth Methodist Church Vestry, Route 135. 

Menu will feature homemade roast pork with mashed potatoes and gravy, apple sauce, vegetables, cole slaw, rolls and gingerbread with real whipped cream. Adults $7, children 12 and under $3.50.

Entertainment will be a May pole for the children and the young at heart.

Interfaith Forum visits Mormons

AUBURN — The Interfaith Forum will continue its spring series with a visit to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20. The church is at 545 Maple Hill Road. For more information contact Pat Gavula at 777-1200.

A cappella concert

AUGUSTA — Maine-ly Harmony Chorus and the Kennebec Valley YMCA Youth Chorus will present Spring Into A Cappella Sound at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Vile’s Arboretum, 153 Hospital St. This musical program of barbershop-style four-part harmony will delight young and old alike, as the women’s chorus performs old favorites and the students sing Disney theme songs.
