FARMINGTON —  A Garden Tea hosted by the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is planned from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the Bass Room at the hospital.

The tea, which is free and open to the public, includes a presentation about the Auxiliary and how it benefits the hospital, and live entertainment.

An RSVP by June 6 is requested; contact Betty Mitchell at 897-2212.

“The primary purpose of the tea is to attract new members to the Auxiliary, an active organization that plans activities and special events, which raises thousands of dollars annually to support technology and programs at Franklin Memorial Hospital,” Tom Hagerstrom, development director, said. “The organization also provides annual scholarships to support education for students pursuing careers in the health care field.”

The tea begins with refreshments and background music by cellist Amy Leblanc along with her students.

Les Gatchell, Auxiliary president, will talk about the Healing Garden at Franklin Memorial Hospital, while Charlie Woodcock, network volunteer director, will discuss the hospitality cart that is used by volunteers to deliver items to patients and family members in the oncology department.

The hospital’s gift shop is the Auxiliary’s major fundraiser but it also raises money by hosting special events, membership dues, raffles, seasonal sales, book sales and the Remembrance Tree during the holidays.
