CANTON — Selectman Jackie Conant is seeking another term in the June 12 town elections.

Her challenger, Rob Walker, chairman of the Budget Committee. He said he would like to see the town do better in  long- and short-term planning. He also would like to see the surplus be in line with the auditor’s goals, and a 10-year plan for the town.

Walker said he wants travelers to stop and stay awhile, but they must have something to stop for. “The boat ramp is a good place to start,” he said.

The ramp is being built by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife near the new Anasagunticook Lake dam on Whitney Brook.

Conant has served as selectman for three terms. She said since she’s been involved with the dam project she would like to see it to completion. That involves the boat ramp and landscaping the grounds around the dam.

Elections will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Town Office.
