MANCHESTER, N.H. — Saint Anselm College celebrated its 119th commencement exercises on May 19. Local graduates include the following students.

Richard J. Barrett of Auburn, an economics major.

Benjamin O. Hartnett of Auburn, an international business major.

Alexander J. Lafreniere of Lewiston, a psychology major.

Andrew N. Marden of Lewiston, a financial economics major.

Kaylee P. Tyburski of Lewiston, a nursing major.

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Mr. and Mrs. Shepard Swain of New Vineyard announce the commencement of their son, Matthew Swain, awarded the degree Master of Arts in quantitative psychology from James Madison University on May 4.

Swain previously graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. in 2010.

Swain has been recognized throughout his academic career. As an undergraduate, he developed and implemented an intake assessment process for the Liberty University counseling office.

As a graduate student at James Madison University, he co-authored a submission of his assessment work in the Transfer Student Orientation program to the NASPA Excellence Awards committee — an international organization for student affairs administrators in higher education. His team was subsequently conferred the Grand Gold award, which is the highest distinction of all submissions.

Swain will begin his Ph.D. in assessment and measurement at James Madison University in the fall.

Matthew graduated from Mt. Blue in 2006. His grandparents are Stephen and Jackie Swain of Rangeley and Donald and Louise Oakes of Wilton.
