Jones Dance Band at Legion

PARIS — Jones Dance Band will perform old-fashioned dance music from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25, at the Legion Hall.  The cost is $5.

Historical Society sale Aug. 4

Thrift Shop holding sale

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, next to Reny’s on Main Street, will hold their popular “End of Summer” half-price sale starting Monday, Aug. 6 through Saturday, Aug. 11.

This will be followed by the “Fill-A-Bag for $2” sale starting Monday, Aug. 13, through Saturday, Aug. 18.

They are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are closed Sunday.

The shop will be closed Aug. 20-21 and will reopen Wednesday, Aug. 22, with fall and winter inventory.

The shop is a not for profit fundraising project for the organization and all funds raised benefit the hospital.

Knitting Guild to meet Aug. 7

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the First Congregational Church in South Paris.

Highland Lake swim event Aug. 10

BRIDGTON — Bridgton Recreation will held the annual Swim Highland Lake Event at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10. The event is open to all ages and begins at Highland Lake Resort on Route 302. Participants will then swim from the resort down Highland Lake to Highland Beach in town.

Cost is $10 per person. Participants will receive a Swim Highland Lake T-shirt. Registration forms are available in the Bridgton Town Office. For information contact Recreation Director Tom Tash at 647-8786.

Congre. Church bean supper

PARIS — The Ladies Circle of the First Congregational Church will sponsor a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. The meal includes baked beans, casseroles, salads, hot dogs, brown bread, homemade rolls and homemade pies. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will hold a workshop at noon sharp on Saturday, Aug. 11. Hamlin Library, Museum hours

PARIS — The hours at the Hamlin Memorial Library & Museum will be changing starting on Sept. 1. Hamlin will be open two days every week through the winter. New regular hours, starting Sept. 1, will be Tuesdays 11-5 and Saturdays 10-3. New summer hours, starting next June, will be Tuesdays 11-5, Thursdays noon-6 and Saturdays 10-3.
